Desk Panel DPI wins Red Dot Design Award for product design

The intuitively designed LINAK Desk Panel DPI has been awarded a 2023 Red Dot Award in the “Product Design” category, with its innovative functionality and built-in anti-collision particularly impressing the jury.

Every year, the Red Dot Award: Product Design sets out to find the year’s best products. The products selected by the Red Dot Jury to win an award may be aesthetically appealing, functional, smart or innovative, but what they all have in common is their outstanding design.

This year, the LINAK Desk Panel DPI series with its streamlined appearance, intuitive use, and built-in anti-collision sensor has been awarded the Red Dot Award, the official seal of the internationally renowned Red Dot Design Competition.

A unique combination of design and innovation

For LINAK it is a special honor to receive a coveted Red Dot in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023 category. The design itself was one of the key factors when developing the DPI desk panel series.

We created a new sleek and slim design that does not include any traditional buttons for features on the desk panel. Simply put, the buttons on a conventional Desk panel are always a compromise; they are seldom intuitive to users, and they complicate the design and engineering, and that is why we decided to move these advanced features to an app.

If updates or new features are available, it is fast and easy to update the Desk Connect app for the end user (available for iOS and Android), providing extended longevity for the product.

In addition, the DPI is our first desk panel ever to include a built-in anti-collision sensor, an innovative LINAK technology, which provides excellent anti-collision functionality,

Built-in anti-collision impressed the Red Dot Jury

As well as the streamlined functionality and appearance of the DPI, the jury was impressed by the integrated anti-collision sensor, which helps prevent damage to the desk or objects above or beneath its desktop during movement.

Also, the feature of adjusting the desk height just by tilting the paddle was impressive, allowing the user to raise or lower the desk without taking the eyes off the monitor, was another remarked-upon feature.

And by the way … we did it again!

We do not mean to show off, but this is not the first award that the DPI series has won. It also received a “Special Mention” award for Excellence in Business-to-Business Office Solutions at the prestigious German Innovation Awards.

It is also the second time that LINAK has won a Red Dot for its innovative control panels. The first time was for the DPG series of desk panels in 2018.

What is a Red Dot Award?

The "Red Dot Award: Product Design" has roots dating back as far as 1955. Since then, this annual award has been given to the best products of the year. True to the motto: “In search of good design and innovation”, an international jury evaluate the products on individuality and originality. In 2023, products were submitted from 60 countries and judged in 51 competition categories by a jury of 43 members.
